Flickr Qube v.01
This screen saver was created as a proof of concept using the Flickr API and
Apple’s Quartz Composer. Flickr Qube downloads six random photos from the Flickr group Catchy Colors, creates a cube, and the camera (you) rotate around the inside of the cube.
Currently, this screensaver only grabs images from the Flickr group ‘catchy colors’ with no user input.
The screen saver uses Tiger’s core image rendering and appreciates a nice video card. The code was taken from a few of Apple’s examples and the static URL script created by: The Ducky
Future plans include:
- Ability to specify which group to use for pictures
- Ability to specify the picture count desired
- Ability to add effects to each image (sepia, black and white)
As with any beta software package I can not guarantee this screen saver will work as intended
I’ve done a lot of testing and have had no problems - but please, use at your own risk.
